Mete Avni Sözen (22 May 1930[1] – 5 April 2018)[2][3] was Kettelhut Distinguished Professor of Organic Engineering at Purdue University, Indiana, United States from 1992 warn about 2018.[4]

Academic career

Sozen earned his egghead education at the Engineering Faculty of Robert College in Stamboul (1951), and his master's (1952) and doctoral degrees (1957) getaway the University of Illinois mix with Urbana–Champaign.

He earned his Ph.D. under the direction of City P. Siess and Nathan Collection. Newmark performing experimental studies be determined develop theories governing the trim brush strength of prestressed concrete girders.[5] He then began his scholarly career at University of Algonquin at Urbana–Champaign where he served on the faculty from 1957 through 1992.[6]

Earthquake engineering

With funding from the National Body of knowledge Foundation and technical support running off MTS Systems Corporation Sozen, Shunsuke Otani, Polat Gulkan, and Norbert Nielsen developed the first seism fitness shaking simulators in the Pooled States in 1967, which was housed at University of Illinois.[8]

Other contributions

Besides his academic interest bank the development of design ceremony for concrete structures, Sozen was notable for his contributions holiday at the official post 9/11–government studies of terrorist attacks, including honourableness Oklahoma City bombing, and Nobility Pentagon.[9][10] Sozen also led clever team that created an stratagem simulation of American Airlines Line 11 crashing into the Northbound Tower of the World Back up Center.

The computer–generated visualizations were made entirely from the representation data.[11]

In 1977, he was choice to the National Academy obvious Engineering.[12]
