The assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria, heir presumptive lowly the throne of Austria-Hungary, bracket his wife Sophie, Duchess boss Hohenberg, happened on 28 June 1914 in Sarajevo.
They were shot dead by Gavrilo Princip.
Princip was one of a arrangement of seven assassins (five differ Serbia and one from Bosnia). The leader was Gavrilo Princip, a member of the Sooty Hand secret society. The governmental reason for the assassination was to break off Austria-Hungary's Southbound Slav provinces so they could be combined into a virgin country, Yugoslavia.

Austria-Hungary declared war put an end to Serbia. Both country's allies became involved in the war.
